Interested in participating in a F.A.S.T. event?

The use of factory castings, bias-ply street tires and exciting heads-up racing make F.A.S.T. events a very unique form of drag racing. Some participants crave the competition, trying to qualify in the Quick-8 eliminator. Others enjoy racing their cars in a heads-up race along side another muscle car in close side by side racing. Many think of it as a car show displaying beautiful factory muscle cars just the way they looked when they rolled off the assembly line, except with alot of exciting, jaw-dropping action! Most all also enjoy the camaraderie and friendship of other F.A.S.T. racers and crew members. After racing, social gatherings and barbecues are a highlight too. F.A.S.T. racers are a competitive group when their car is on the starting line ready to rocket down the 1320. But don't be surprised when you see F.A.S.T. racers helping their competitors make the next round. There is no big money to win in F.A.S.T., even though some races may award sponsor supplied door prizes or gift certificates to race winners, F.A.S.T. is all about FUN!

OK, Lets get started. You should know that there are 2 separate classes for Musclecars to race in. They are F.A.S.T. and Factory Stock, although each class look similar externally they each have their own rules. You need to determine which class your car fits into.
xx
Quick Overview:
  • F.A.S.T.: The F.A.S.T. class allows almost unlimited internal engine modification. You can bore and stroke the engine, port the heads, install bigger valves, ect. but you must use factory correct engine castings.
  • Factory Stock: The Factory Stock class is for completely stock cars, just they way they came out of the factory. There are a few allowances from stock such as blueprinting to NHRA specifications, but basically its all about using factory original, unmodified parts.

Please be sure to:
  • Read the rules for the class you are interested in. F.A.S.T. or F/S (Factory Stock)
  • Review and familiarize yourself with the race format.
  • Be sure to visit the F.A.S.T. Forums message board. Get help and learn about F.A.S.T. and building F.A.S.T. cars.
  • The F.A.S.T. Media page is a great source for F.A.S.T. tech and event info. Many Racers have had their car featured in National publications.
  • Review the events page to see dates and locations for F.A.S.T. events.
  • If after reading the rules, if you still have questions, contact F.A.S.T. for more information.
  • If you don't think your car can comply with the rules 100%, contact F.A.S.T.. There are a few allowances in the rules that are granted for first time racers.
  • Fill out and print the Tech Form, bring it with you to the track and hand it to the tech inspector.

When you get to the event, introduce yourself and don't be afraid to ask alot of questions. Most F.A.S.T. racers will be more than happy to help you out. Don't expect to run your best, it takes seat time getting familiar with launching a musclecar on Bias-ply street tires. You will be notified of the time and location of tech inspection. Minor infractions will be issued a warning to have infraction corrected by your next race. Major rule infractions should be taken care of before the race.

F.A.S.T. racing is growing, don't miss out on all the fun. Come out and join the fun, you'll be glad you did.
